*I should have posted this weeks ago, but better late than never!
Making resolutions at the beginning of the year isn’t usually my thing. After making a lot of progress toward positive changes in my life in 2015, I decided it was worth a shot.
1. Lose 50 pounds
The dreaded weight loss goal! This is a resolution lots of people make, yet aren’t able to stick to. After committing myself to a huge lifestyle change last year, I was able to lose 62 pounds in 2015. That’s more than double what I have lost in the past. I likely could have lost more, but I spent the months of October-December in maintenance mode and was not actively trying to lose. Fifty seems like a lot, but I’m confident I can do it.
2. Exercise more
Since I started following a low carb/high fat diet, I’ve rarely exercised. At my previous job, we walked during breaks, about a mile each day. When I started my new position at the end of October in a new location, it didn’t appear that there was really an adequate place for walking. I later discovered, however, that there is a walking trail nearby. Unfortunately, the weather hasn’t exactly been cooperating recently, but I plan to start walking again very soon. No more excuses. I’m actually also toying with the idea of joining a gym, but I’m not quite ready to commit to that just yet.
I used to spend my weekends and free time exploring, usually driving to random places for concerts. I love live music, but I haven’t been to a concert in a couple years. I’ve turned into a unmitigated hermit, and that just won’t do! I’ve actually made a specific list of travel goals for myself that I hope to accomplish this year. Some of them are silly, but I’m sure I’ll have fun checking as many of them off the list as possible.
4. Try a new hobby
This is kind of related to my propensity to just stay home all the time and avoid new experiences. I’ve also come to realize I don’t try new things, even solitary activities that would be great for an introvert like me. I need to find things to do, rather than sitting home all the time, reading and binge watching shows on Netflix. There have to be some better things to occupy my time!
5. Blog more often
I am already failing at this one, but I’ve made a schedule for the next month, so blog posts should come more regularly.
